Overview & Reviews
The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.
- Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
- Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

Reality - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Trapezoid Joe - December 7 - 7:46 pmThis is a solid truck. I see nothing wrong to complain about. When I shopped I looked at the Ford150 and Dodge Ram. The F150 has more options but it was $3000 more. F150 was also more refined. If you can afford it the F150 is a better buy if you want the most refined truck with the most options/features. The Dodge Ram was $1000 cheaper but much less refined. The Ram had the exact same interior (plastic) and clothe as my 98 Dodge Neon which is very very cheap. For the money the Silverado is by far the best buy using value as the measure.

Good 4x4 - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By CP - October 27 - 6:00 amI purchased used with 40,000 miles for the 4x4. I live in a semi-rural area and the roads dont get treated. I have the 5.3 V8, and G80 locker. For the two months Ive driven, it has worked like a charm. Been using the AutoTrac 4x4 which is the button system that goes into 4WD Auto, which is AWD. Had to dig the wheels out a little when I drove into 3 high snow in my driveway. I rocked the truck back and forth a couple of times and was out. I get around 20 mpg on country roads and highway. I dont drive heavy footed, usually 65-75 hwy. Only thing that I find annoying is the wipers cant be lifted off the windshield when it snows, because of the hood design. Takes longer to clean the window.

THE BEST EYT - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By unclegrizz - September 27 - 2:00 amThis is my second Z71, both were good, but this is this best. I have everything but the leather seats and with the way I play, I didnt want it. Performance is A1, sound system A1, dual heating/air A1, cant say enough about the way the whole truck is setup. Best yet in my book!! Had one of the first ford F150 three drs and it couldnt come close to this truck. Need to pass, see ya in my dust!!

Love my chevy - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By dawglover - September 27 - 2:00 amMy chevy truck performs excellently I have had no problems with it. It gets great milage for a full size truck. I get 21 miles around town, I havent gone any long distances yet. I have plenty of power to pull a trailer or boat with no problems at all. I love the lay out of the inside over the f-150 or the Dodge Ram. The chevy sits just the right height you dont have to climb into the truck like you do with the Dodge. The Chevy is more comfortable and has alot better ride than either the Ford f-150 or Dodge Ram.

Silverado 1500 - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Paul Tyler - September 16 - 10:00 amComfortable, reliable and solid construction. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned that did not have a rattle or squeak somewhere at sometime. I am 65 years old and have owned a lot of vehicles in my life and the is at the top of my list as far as quality, comfort and performance. I purchased a 1966 442 with a 3.90 and 4 speed muncie in November of 1965 which I still own today. The 5.3 Silverado is the closest thing I have owned in performance to that excellent old 442. I do not care about the overhead cams, 3 and 4 valves per cylinder, etc. I love my Chevrolet Silverado.

nice truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By pioneer863 - June 22 - 10:00 am2004 Chev 1500 Ext cab 5.3 V8 Z71 Ive only had the truck for three weeks so my review will be very limited. Over all the truck has a nice ride and good amount of power. The only problem so far Ive had is the back window doesnt seal properly and makes wind noises but im sure it can easily be fixed. Its the little things in this truck that make the difference, like controls on the wheel for the radio, tinted and heated mirrors, block heater etc...
